Known locally as Bayr ny Skeddan, ‘The Herring Way’ is the ancient Manx fisherman’s route from Castletown Harbour to Peel.
Join Walking.im on a guided walk along this ancient route through a fantastic variety of beautiful Manx countryside including coastal, moorland, lowland fields, National Glens and of course amazing views.
The route is a good challenge to complete in 1 day but quite manageable with the support of your guide including plenty of opportunity to take in all this enjoyable walk has to offer.
Please bring appropriate food/snacks for the day…This is not a day walk to be worrying about waistlines, lots of high energy snacks, sweeties, chocolate, cake, nuts, Jaffa cakes or anything you fancy bringing on the day. Do not forget a packed lunch, sunscreen and bring plenty of fluids to keep you hydrated throughout the day. Wear suitable footwear e.g., good walking boots or shoes and wear clothes to suit the weather on the day, including waterproofs if showers are forecast!
There will be a few loos on route (Silverdale 2.5 miles and Glen Maye 8.5 miles) but nothing in between, so please bring whatever you require with you. Walking.im are UNESCO Biosphere partners so please folks let us bring all our rubbish back and leave nothing but footprints behind.
Walking.im are fully accredited and insured for guided walking activities and follow industry guidelines to ensure your safety so that you can enjoy the walking experience with confidence, and we will support you throughout the walk.
Please also bring any medication which you may require and inform walking.im at the start of any medical issues which we should be aware of. I will be asking everyone to sign a medical/risk disclaimer before the start of the walk if you haven’t walked with us before.
There are only 6 spaces currently left for this walk, so please send a booking enquiry through the website or call/text Ken on 07624 240430.
Many Thanks 🙂
